The Mongol Rally 2007

What does it involve?  Driving an old banger under 1000cc, bought as cheaply as possible, some 8000 to 10000 miles, depending on route (about a third of the way around the world)  over a period of 3 to 4 weeks, hopefully!, along ‘roads’, most of which are politely described as little better than dirt tracks (we must be MAD!!). And all this to raise lots of money for charity! The final comment on the rally’s official web site is:- ‘We can’t guarantee your arrival at the finish line, or your safety.’.

BUT AT THE END OF THE DAY WHAT'S LIFE IF YOU DON’T LIVE IT !!

For more information on the rally visit their web site at www.mongolrally.com

This year there are 200 cars (and motor bikes up to 125cc) taking part and the organizers hope to raise £250,000, so all your donations will be appreciated.

Thanks for looking
Graham(The Muscle) and Liz(The Brains)

We finished at 07.58 on 6 August 2007!

Only took us 16 days, instead of the above mentioned 3 to 4 weeks and the only problem we had was with the exhaust, ended up deafened for a day until we could get it welded up . We didn't even have to display our skills in changing a tyre/wheel (think of all that space that could have been saved by not carrying spare wheels!) as we didn't even get a puncture!!!!
