More ralliers.... so we pull over and make a
convoy of 5 cars...
... - all heading to the Russian border and
Volgograd via Rostov.
And we take the lead!
The road goes on & on etc
Just worked out why were in the lead - bait for
speed traps
A street market in the middle of nowhere. But you
have to slow down to save running anyone over!
Thought we saw wild animal too slow though
Very flat and barren, dry countryside - not much
to look at really.
...and so it went on and on and on...
Horn Ok! Please have decided that its time to lose
the top box full of spare parts. They reckon they don't need them
anymore!
We unscrew the bolts...
...and like pulbearers it takes 6 people to lift!
It's slid down the bank and sort of hidden!
Someone in Ukraine will think all of their Christmas's have come at once
with the stash of goodies in there!!
A quality Ukrainian public loo - at least this one
has a door and flooring!!! This is a good one - honestly!! They don;t
get any better in Russia either!
Some Ukrianian scenery on the way to the border.
Simon (bless) was in the lead and got pulled for
speeding. He's inside the police car. (probably bricking it!! I would
be!!)
They have asked for a 'small present'. We were
unsure as to give them an actual small present (ha ha) or if $5US would
surfice. We decided on the latter!
Graham having a chat with the police!
Entering Mariupol - a very typical industrial big
town belching smoke everywhere! Yuck
Maruipol...beautiful in the sunset. The smog
really sets it off!
We decide to stop for some dinner before it gets
too dark! We are determined to drive to the border but need to eat
first!
Eating on the side of the road - our first
campsite experience!
Just packing up
Morning arrives... its taken 8 hours to cross the
border from Ukraine to Russia. The boys (mm nice legs) are getting the
docs sorted en masse!!
In Russia. We were the first car to ever use this
petrol station as they turned the pumps on for the first time ever when
we arrived !!! We felt very special!
Russian farming - marked difference from Ukraine
200yrds away!
